SolarCoin: Using the Renewable Cryptocurrency in Brooklyn

  • Brooklyn SolarWorks 200 6th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Launched in 2017 SolarCoin is the world’s first and only solar cryptocurrency. Unlike energy and carbon-intensive cryptos such as Bitcoin and Etherium, SolarCoins are mined through the production of clean solar electricity. Therefore, any owner of a rooftop solar system can produce SolarCoins and exchange them for either crypto or conventional currency.

Join Christopher Neidl of Brooklyn SolarWorks and Solar Coin co-founder Nick Gogerty for a workshop on how current and soon-to-be solar owners can get started in basic SolarCoin investing. The discussion will cover the origins of SolarCoin as well as some potential future directions for its utilization here in Brooklyn.

Current and potential solar owners, and anyone curious about SolarCoin and crytocurrenies in general should attend. Solar Owners should bring their laptops so they can get signed up, on the spot, as a SolarCoin producer.

Who should attend:

  • Current and potential solar owners

  • Anyone curious about cryptocurrency
