Out of all New Yorkers, Brooklynites definitely rep the hardest. There is an automatic connection when you meet someone else from Brooklyn, a sense of pride when you hear musicians shout out Brooklyn in your favorite song. Brooklyn is a community, one that Brooklyn SolarWorks is extremely proud to be a part of. To enforce that sense of community, Brooklyn SolarWorks has been putting together neighborhood group solar purchases. The shift towards clean, renewable energy is a movement, one that is infinitely more powerful and effective when we make the jump together.
Collaborating with neighborhoods on going solar allows us to achieve maximum impact with our work. Centralizing solar to specific parts of the grid changes the “peak demand load” (sustained periods of higher energy demand), and reduces the need for “peak plants” (power plants that only run during those periods of high demand). Beyond the environmental benefits, neighborhood purchases make the process of going solar easier and more accessible for us as well as our customers. Going solar with your neighbors simplifies the permitting process and decreases each customer’s individual installation cost!
So far our neighborhood installations have allowed us to build strong and lasting relationships with community members, and help spread our mission throughout our favorite borough. The solar revolution is happening now and it’s happening fast, with Brooklyn at the forefront of the movement in New York.
