Cars that run on electricity have only begun to transform the automobile industry; in 2014, electric vehicle sales in the United States increased 23% from 2013 and 128% from 2012. But what about a car that runs on electricity… generated by the sun?
If you follow us on our Facebook or Instagram, you’ll know that we recently partnered with Park Ave BMW to turn that idea into a reality. Say hello to the new Brooklyn SolarWorks-mobile, officially named Azi. “Azi” is short for “Azimuth,” which is the direction a roof points south.
Azi is a BMW i3 model charged the way any other electric vehicle would be charged – with an electric car charging station. Except this time, we’re powering the car charging system with a solar system we have on the roof of the building.
Brooklyn SolarWorks wrapped Azi with a solar panel pattern on top and a golden skyline of New York City on the sides. If you look closely, you’ll even notice some solar canopy silhouettes on top of the buildings.
If you see us in the neighborhood, do let us know. See you around, and as always, shine on!
